19 Oct 2014 - 22 Dec 2014 | Meadowbank Sports Arena, Magherafelt | Free

Acorns AC Couch to 5k (C25k) - Magherafelt

Acorns AC in conjunction with Magherafelt District Council are delighted to announce that they will host a Couch to 5K (C25K) running programme aimed at complete beginners who have never run before.
The programme will be run over a 9 week period at Meadowbank Sports Arena, Magherafelt on Monday & Wednesday from 7-8pm.
Best of all its FREE to take part.
Acorns AC leaders in running fitness will deliver the C25K programme in a structure, controlled, and safe environment and is designed to get you to the point where you can run 5k /  30 minutes at a slow, relaxed pace.
It's a simple program beginning with more walking than running. As the weeks progress, evolves into more running than walking. Participants will complete two sessions with Acorns AC and then be given a third workout as ‘homework’ to complete on their own. Once you are able to run 30 minutes nonstop, you can decide on your next step.
You might simply want to continue running 30 minutes at a time, two or three days per week. Research has shown that this can help you lose or maintain weight and has many health benefits such as cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin response. The first 30 minutes is the hardest you will ever run. Once you have reached this level of fitness, it's fairly easy to do more. You simply have to budget the time, be patient and disciplined with training. Acorns AC formed in April 2014 with the aim to promote athletics to the people of Mid Ulster and this aim has been fundamental to the growth of the club in its short history to date. The message is simple, promote athletics, promote health & wellbeing, forge friendships and help the local community. With the assistance of Magherafelt District Council this aim has the possibility to reach a much wider cross section of the community. Our motto is “mighty oaks from little acorns grow” meaning that from small beginnings great things happen. This could be you.  Click here for more details
